Another Mystery

Scout, their usually calm and friendly dog, seemed unusually tense as he stood near the corner of the dining room, his low growls breaking the otherwise quiet atmosphere. His unease was hard to ignore, and it left both James and Mandy feeling slightly unsettled. They couldn’t help but recall what the real estate agent had told them during the house tour—that the home had once belonged to an elderly woman who had no children or family to inherit it. The thought of the house’s lonely history lingered in their minds as they continued unpacking and settling in.

In that same corner of the room stood an antique cupboard, its dark wood polished with age. While it wasn’t unattractive, Mandy decided it could use a fresh coat of varnish to better match their style. As she moved the heavy cabinet slightly to get a better look at its condition, something caught her attention. Curious, she shifted it again, and that’s when she noticed it—a strange indentation in the wall behind the cupboard, as though something had been deliberately concealed. The discovery sent a chill down her spine, and she called James over to take a closer look. Whatever secrets this house held, it seemed they were only beginning to uncover them.
