The biggest-ever discovery of Moroccan gold was made from the Salcombe shipwreck, which was nearly undiscovered. The SWMAG was requested to look into the location in 1992. They claimed at the time that Salcombe was just a “cannon site” and that “nothing else” was present. The seabed underwent a shift two years ago, exposing an enormous wealth trove.

The discovery has yielded hundreds upon hundreds of jewelry pieces that date between 1510 and 1636. Axes, swords, tools, decorations, and other Bronze Age relics have also been found. The Salcombe has turned into a treasure valued at $800 million so far.
