For unknown reasons, there were over 6,000 shipwrecks in this lake. In Lake Huron, some of the sunken ships are plainly visible at the bottom. The “Blue Mountains,” a 300-meter-tall limestone cliff system that plunges precipitously into the surface of Lake Huron, are another well-known sight.
