After the South African government gave Queen Mary the brooch’s stone in 1910, Queen Mary bought the Lover’s Knot Brooch from Garrard in the early 1930s. She wore the broch in her picture drawn two years later, together with a diamond sautoir, earrings, and choker necklace (which the Duchess of Cambridge now wears as a bracelet).

Queen Elizabeth received the Lover’s Knot Brooch in 1953, and it is said to be her favorite brooch. She has worn it on numerous occasions over the years. The center stone of the Lover’s Knot weighs 18.8 carats.
