3. The LEGO Bridge
Place of location: Wuppertal, Germany
Founded in 2011; Cost: Not Known
Building the Lego Bridge (also known as the Lego-Brucke in German) only took thirteen days. It is possible to find this concrete beam bridge alongside the Wuppertal Northern Railway. It’s a stunning piece of art that appears to have been built entirely of big Lego pieces. Inspired by his Lego-loving daughters, artist Martin Heuwold painted the bridge, which had been deactivated in 1991.

Lego and the Wuppertal city council both gave their approval to his concept. The painting was overseen by Wuppertal Bewegung and was completed in less than two weeks. To help finish the project, Heuwold hired unemployed workers. Given its 2,700-foot span, painting the Lego Bridge was no easy feat.
