A crucial component of the Florida Keys is the Seven Mile Bridge, which is situated in Monroe County, Florida. It links Knight’s Key in Marathon, Florida (the Middle Keys), with Little Duck Key in the Lower Keys. Part of the 2,368-mile Route 1, it is one of the world’s longest bridges.

There are actually two versions of the Seven Mile Bridge: one that is accessible to vehicles and another that is restricted to walkers and cyclists. While the US Route 1 connecting bridge was built in 1978 and opened to traffic in 1982, the older bridge dates back to 1909.
