Not every treasure that is discovered at the ocean’s bottom is worth a lot of money. For historians, it can occasionally be worth just as much as a gold bar. The Queen Anne’s Revenge was captained by the infamous pirate Blackbeard, but the ship sank in 1718.

It was discovered in 1996, somewhere off the coast of North Carolina, but it wasn’t confirmed until 2011, many years later. A sword that many believe may have belonged to Blackbeard himself is among the types of treasure discovered; even though it isn’t filled with emeralds, this blade is still rather spectacular.
