Red supergiant star UY Scuti is located in the constellation Scutum. With a radius that is roughly 1,700 times larger than the Sun—which is about 110 times larger than the Earth—it is regarded as one of the largest known stars as of this writing. UY Scuti is five billion times larger than the Sun in terms of bulk.

The photosphere of this massive red star, which is 9,500 light-years away from Earth, would swallow Jupiter’s orbit if it were the centre of the solar system. It is thought that UY Scuti is a metal-rich star due to its deep placement within the Milky Way disc.
