9. The Cat That Caught the Turkey

Although we have heard of cats catching the cream, it seems as though a new type of cat burglars emerge from the shadows on Halloween. Indeed, say hello to the cat that stole the turkey; considering things, this is rather amazing. With black and white stripes and a comically large turkey prop that gives the costume—which is a brilliant twist on classic prison garb—looking like our feline companion just pulled off the robbery of the century. The cat’s slow change from proud criminal to resigned prisoner—who finally decides that a cat nap comes first over upholding the charade—makes this costume especially funny. From the precisely sized prisoner’s helmet to the handwritten placard stating the type of the offence, the costume design exhibits remarkable attention to detail. It’s a great illustration of how pet costumes may convey a narrative while yet being cosy enough for our animal companions to put up with.

10. So Nervous He Beed

To be honest, this pooch doesn’t look particularly cheerful for this pet Halloween costume. Actually, he seems so anxious wearing such a disguise that it seems like he might have been himself! Still, we suppose it makes little difference when you look so adorable. Complete with delicate wings that catch the light and a fluffy yellow and black striped body suit that appears rather soft and cosy, the change from typical dog to buzzing bee is truly lovely. Artificial flowers provide a whole scene that suggests our scared little friend is out gathering pollen as any other appropriate bee would. The dog’s attitude, which so aptly depicts the mix of mild humiliation and resigned resignation that so many canines exhibit during their Halloween picture shoots, makes this outfit especially appealing. The costume designers obviously considered the comfort element, making sure the dog could move freely and meet its normal demands even with their complex design.
