Every year, as snowfall covers a large portion of the planet, the British royal family gets enmeshed in a complex web of traditional Christmas traditions. These customs are more than just rituals; they are age-old customs meant to strengthen family ties and give the general public a sense of constancy and grandeur.

Every action has meaning, from the Queen’s Christmas speech to the family’s yearly stroll to the Sandringham chapel. Though most royals take part, there are a few who don’t. Those on diplomatic assignments overseas during the holidays, for example, may be unable to attend these ceremonies. However, even from a distance, the spirit of royal Christmas is frequently sensed, erasing gaps with recollections and common ideals.
