Slovenia and other former Soviet states employed the T-55 as their primary battle tank. After the Second World War, the tanks were put to use. Since then, the most produced tanks in history have been the T-54 and T-55 series. Between 1945 and 1958, perhaps 100,000, if not more, had been produced.

The primary producers of the T-54 and T-55 were KhPZ and UVZ in the Soviet Union, Bumar-Labedy in Poland, and ZTS Martin in Czechoslovakia. Although T-55s never engaged in direct combat with NATO enemies in Europe during the Cold War, the U.S. was inspired by the T-55’s advanced technology to create the renowned M60 Patton. They also influenced the United Kingdom to develop the Royal Ordnance L7 tank gun.
