Photographer Santiago Lopez spent two hours at the Loro Parque Zoo in Tenerife, Spain, to get this heartwarming picture of a mother chimpanzee cuddling her sleeping youngster. The image, titled “Motherly Love,” provided insight into how emotionally and cognitively similar chimps and humans are.

Among the other creatures of the Loro Parque Zoo are four thousand parrots. It is one of Spain’s top tourist destinations and home to a variety of plant and animal sanctuaries. A highly recommended camera for wildlife photography, the Nikon Coolpix P1000, might have been used to enlarge the photo of this mother and youngster.
