The most recent technological advancements in America enable each Virginia-class submarine to have a $1 billion lower building cost. The SSN-774 class is another name for the submarines. These are the newest underwater warfare platforms in the Navy’s fleet; they are fast-attacking, nuclear-powered submarines. Virginia-class submarines are capable of almost any task, including coastal and open-ocean operations.

They are equipped with MK-48 torpedoes, RGM-84 Harpoons, and Tomahawk missiles. The outdated Los Angeles-class submarines will be replaced with Virginia-class submarines. There are 66 scheduled. Nineteen have been finished and are currently in use. Six are on order, and eleven are under construction.
