The A-10 Thunderbolt II is more commonly referred to as “the hog” or the warthog.” The Warthog was intended to target tanks and armored vehicles in addition to providing cover for friends in combat. Air controllers and quick-action support are also provided by the Warthog. One of the Warthog’s original weapons was a 30mm Avenger GAU-8 rotating gun.
