The Stari Most, also known as the Old Bridge, was first built in 1566 and has withstood centuries of battle and history in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. But when it was destroyed in 1993, during the Bosnian War, its tenacity was put to the test. The bridge, which represents the tenacity and cohesion of the city, was meticulously rebuilt using conventional techniques and reopened in 2004.

The Stari Most, a $13 million bridge that spans 29 meters over the Neretva River, not only reunites the city but also offers as a moving example of the potential of healing and reconstruction. Fascinatingly, the Stari Most is well-known for its yearly diving competition, in which fearless participants jump from the structure’s enormous arch into the river below.
