During the 1980s, the military has been using the enormous M1 Abrams tank. General Dynamics Land Systems, formerly known as Chrysler Defense, was responsible for developing this tank. At sixty-two metric tons, it is one of the heaviest tanks in use by the US.

The renowned General Creighton Abrams inspired the name. The reliable M60 tank was superseded by the M1A2. It has a multifuel turbine engine, Chobham armour, fire control systems, and a blowout chamber. The Army and Marines employ it. For safety, it also has NBC protection.
