Princess Diana received a set of unusual-looking earrings from Dodi Fayed in 1997. These earrings had four rolls and resembled kidney beans. These earrings were on Princess Diana the day she was killed in a vehicle accident. The earrings snapped with the force of the collision.

Of the fourteen personal effects that first responders were able to retrieve from the crash scene, the shattered earrings were one. One earring was given to Paul Burrell at the Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital in Paris. Months after the collision, in October 1997, the other gold earring was discovered wedged into Diana’s damaged Mercedes’ dashboard.
