Norway’s Bast Prison
Murderers, rapists, drug traffickers, and con artists are housed in this island’s prison. However, there is a line to reach Bastoy among the Norwegian prisoners. Here, they labor with domestic animals on the farm and in the forest in order to be “rehabilitated.” Everyone who works here in prison is unarmed. Only 5 people have escaped from the island in the 11 years that this jail has been in operation; 3 of them have turned themselves in, and 2 of them were apprehended and sent to prisons on the mainland.
