Prison San Pedro, Bolivia
Due to its closed-city operations, San Pedro Prison is unlike any other prison in the modern world. The prison has an initial resemblance to a modest urban neighborhood. It is housed in a fortification constructed in 1895 and is situated directly in the center of the high-altitude town of La Paz. There aren’t any guards inside; they’re just there to patrol the outside. This prison offers a considerable level of autonomy to its inmates.
