One person’s house-alone-style approach to house security is to jam an unsharpened pencil into a lock’s slot and hope it stays in place. Pencils are available at Staples for $2.99 per dozen. An industrial door such as this would require a heavy-duty door lock, which can be purchased from Home Depot for $160 to $200 (installation included). Even though there is less than a 1% probability that this plan will succeed, it is obviously less expensive.
