Who knew that a dusty chair might hold ancient, vintage diamonds? A couple in Scotland experienced a similar circumstance after good fortune smiled upon them. At an auction, Angela and Angus Milner-Brown paid just $6.50 (£5) for an apparently ordinary chair, and they assumed that was the end of it.

When they disassembled the chair to discard it, barely ten years or so later, they discovered antique diamond jewelry concealed therein that was valued at $6,485 (£5,000). The couple had no idea that they were essentially “sitting on a fortune”!

A comparable find occurred in London when a gullible person discovered a massive cache of US gold coins from the 19th century concealed from view.

Experts concluded that a Jewish family had never been able to reclaim the coins they had stored just before WWII, out of fear of a German invasion of the UK. The long-lost treasure was eventually claimed by a family descendent.
