76. Lonely Sailboat

Possible Camera Used: Canon
Where to Buy: Walmart, Amazon, eBay
Cost: $15-$50*
This scene is so perfect, it almost looks like a painting. Meagan V. Blazier did it again with this photograph, which, as always, was taken with a cheap Canon camera. You can find the Canon at locations like Walmart or online sites like eBay and Amazon, as it is one of the most common cameras around.

$15 to $50 is what you’ll likely pay to snag one of these cameras. Cheap or not, the results speak for themselves. This scene of a sailboat on calm waters features a half-moon behind it, paired with a lot of twinkly, white stars.

77. Sunrise Over The Lake

Possible Camera Used: Canon
Where to Buy: Walmart, Amazon, eBay
Cost: $15-$50*
Another Meagan V. Blazier photograph, taken with her trusty Canon camera, that we’re featuring is this landscape. The photographer snapped a picture of a lake, featuring a small boat in the middle. Though the description sounds like it wouldn’t be anything special, the photograph certainly is, thanks to the clouds above.

Who knew that a “cheap old Canon” could capture this type of scene? The clouds are so perfectly-pictured that they look like they just came out of a Renaissance landscape. New photographers (or people on a budget—so, most of us), would do well to pick up a Canon and start shooting.

78. Cityscape

Possible Camera Used: DJI Mavic 2
Where to Buy: DSLRPros.com
Cost: $6,500*
Taken sometime during 2016, this photo is another example of how cityscapes don’t always have to be an expansive, New-York-City-esque scene. Found on Imgur, this shot could have been captured with a regular camera or a drone, depending on the vantage point of the photographer.

Drones like the DJI Mavic 2 can fly high above the city, capturing what they see in real time. If you’re looking to purchase the Mavic 2, be prepared to spend quite a bit of cash, as this professional drone costs $6,500 on DSLRPros.com. Drones don’t have to be super expensive, however, and you can find other models for just a few hundred bucks at Walmart or on Amazon.

79. Cat Eyes

Possible Camera Used: GoPro Hero10
Where to Buy: GoPro
Cost: $400*
Some brave photographer took a close-up photo of a hopefully-friendly cat, taking this picture with a camera likely suited to such close encounters. The photograph showcased this grey kitty’s bright, green eyes, which look like they feature multiple different shades when you see them up-close.

Cat Eyes @imgur / Pinterest
A camera like the GoPro Hero10, which costs $400 at the GoPro website, could easily have snapped this shot. Fun fact: cats’ eyes have muscles on either side of their pupils in order to open the slit-shaped pupil wide or narrow it. That’s because these predators (yes, even fluffy, cute, benign cats are predators) are active at night.

80. Bike-Ride Sunrise

Possible Camera Used: Sony A1 Mirrorless Camera
Where to Buy: B&H Photo-Video-Audio
Cost: $6,498*
Why do people love sunrises and sunsets? It seems like they never get old, as humans are always amazed with the colors that Mother Nature brings every single morning and evening. Even when the sky is partly cloudy, like in this photo, you can still catch some great shots.

Bike-Ride Sunrise ©Matt Bernick / flickr.com
Matthew Bernick took this photo of the Eldorado sun peeking between the mountains. Bernick, a Colorado photographer, doesn’t say in the caption what type of camera he used, but a good sunset-capturing camera is the Sony a1 Mirrorless Camera. It costs $6,498 at B&H Photo-Video-Audio, and it’s perfect for serious photographers with money to spend on their hobby/career.

81. Confetti Cannon

Possible Camera Used: Panasonic LUMIX FZ300
Where to Buy: Amazon.com
Cost: $448*
If you weren’t looking too closely at this photo, you would think it was a bunch of aliens with tentacles throwing things into the air. Obviously, aliens aren’t here on Earth (or are they?), so a closer look reveals that this is just a fun concert with a confetti cannon.

Confetti Canon @imgur / Pinterest
Taken in 2015, this photo could have been taken with a Panasonic LUMIX FZ300, which costs $448 on Amazon. Or, more likely, it was taken with an iPhone or Android camera, as this was a person at a concert. Whether professional or cell phone, this camera (and the photographer) did its job well.

82. Drop of Wine

Possible Camera Used: P3200
Where to Buy: eBay
Cost: $15*
A droplet of wine never looked so showstopping. A high-speed camera was used to take this photograph of a droplet of wine plopping into a glass. The black and white photo is surprisingly mesmerizing for something so commonplace. Though you might think an expensive, thousand-dollar camera was used to take this photo, The Dark Room says that that is a misconception.

Drop of Wine ©thedarkroom.com
The camera used was a “cheap” P3200 Rebel Xs from Canon, which you can snag for $15 from secondhand sites like eBay. If you wanted to catch something faster, like the wings of a hummingbird, you’d likely need a fancy camera, but for this, a Rebel will do fine.

83. Stormy Seas

Possible Camera Used: Olympus Tough TG-6
Where to Buy: Amazon.com
Cost: $400*
Choppy seas aren’t a cause for concern when you’re not on a boat. This beautiful photo was taken in 2016, and it features a rough sea beside the mountains. The sun is just peeking over the top of the mountains, and the storm clouds are letting a little of the light through.

To take this cool-toned photo, a waterproof camera was probably used, considering the rainy clouds and the proximity to the water of the shot. The Olympus Tough TG-6 is one of the best waterproof cameras around. You can find it for $400 on Amazon, and it’s fit for all of your outdoor adventures.

84. Shot On Film

Possible Camera Used: Diana-F
Where to Buy: Lomography Shop
Cost: $99.90*
This vintage-looking photo looks like it came straight out of Old Hollywood, featuring a classic car in the frame. The camera used to take “Anachronistic,” the name of the photo, was the Diana-F. The Diana-F camera can be found at the Lomography Shop (Shop.Lomography.com), where it costs $99.90.

Shot On Film ©Luke Gattuso / flickr.com
As Lomography puts it, this “creative analogue” camera gives you “dreamy, color-drenched images.” Taken by Flickr user @dogwelder, the Diana-F camera was loaded with Kodak Portra 160V, as you can see from the caption at the top right of the photo. If you’re looking to take old-timey pictures, the Diana-F is a great camera to consider.

85. Long Exposure

Possible Camera Used: Sony Alpha a6400
Where to Buy: Best Buy
Cost: $899.99*
For those who aren’t in the know about photography, a long-exposure camera, also known as a slow-shutter camera, is able to capture the stationary elements in pictures while smearing, blurring, and obscuring moving elements. This mind-bending photograph, taken in 2016, is a good example of that.

Long Exposure @imgur / Pinterest
The stationary object is semi-clear, while everything around it, including the bustling city, is blurred. The picture looks as though it’s constantly in motion, even though, technically, it’s all one stationary image. A good camera for this type of long-range exposure photography is the Sony a6400, which you can find at Best Buy for $900.

86. Scales

Possible Camera Used: iPhone 5S
Where to Buy: Apple
Cost: $199* (Suggested Retail Price)
Instagrammer @bybrooksy (real name: Justin Brooks) took this photo of “Parkchitecture” in Westfield Century City in Los Angeles, California. Westfield Century City is a 1.3-million-square-foot shopping mall, and it is one of the most beautiful malls in America.

Scales @bybrooksy / Instagram.com
Brooks used an iPhone 5S to capture this picture, proving that some of the best photos are taken on a whim using your cell phone. The tiles of the building look almost like the scales of some pink and purple dragon. As for where exactly he took this shot and how he got there, Brooks kept that information to himself.

87. Lovers In The Night

Possible Camera Used: Rexing TL1 Time Lapse Camera
Where to Buy: Best Buy
Cost: $300*
Taken by Robert Paetz, this photograph brings a new meaning to the phrase “star crossed lovers.” Paetz snapped this shot of a couple marking their engagement using a time-lapse camera. The time-lapse photograph makes the night sky look sparkly and twinkly.

Lovers In The Night @dailymail / Pinterest
The Rexing TL1 Time Lapse camera, which you can find at Best Buy for $300, is one of the best cameras around for this type of photography. Taking a picture of the night sky will yield a beautiful photograph, but only if you have the equipment to ensure that you capture all the stars that the sky has to offer.

88. Lady Liberty

Possible Camera Used: Nikon Coolpix B500
Where to Buy: Best Buy
Cost: $300*
When you think of the Statue of Liberty, your mind probably jumps to everyone’s favorite green lady. The Statue of Liberty was sculpted by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, and it has been a welcoming sight in the New York Harbor since 1886. There are a million and one pictures of Lady Liberty during the day, so this nighttime silhouette shot is a new take.

Digital cameras, such as the Nikon Coolpix B500, make it easier than ever to shoot shots like this, as they are able to focus on the background behind the stationary image—in this case, a beautiful, colorful sunset illuminating the outline of Lady Liberty.

89. Sun Rays

Possible Camera Used: Nikon D3500
Where to Buy: NikonUSA.com
Cost: $600-$700*
Reddit asked the question, “What’s the best photograph you have ever taken with a [cheap] camera?” Redditors answered, and this photo from user @3manu313 took the cake. This tropical image looks like something out of a painting, and the sun beaming through storm clouds above the mountains are captured in near-perfect detail.

So, that being said, what is the best cheap camera to buy if you’re a photog on a budget? According to TechRadar, purveyors of all things technology-related, the best cheap camera of 2021 is a Nikon D3500. This camera costs $600-$700 at NikonUSA.com, but, considering you’re getting professional-level quality, that price is more than fair.

90. Monarch Season

Possible Camera Used: Ricoh GR III
Where to Buy: Adorama
Cost: $896.95*
The Monarch Butterfly: giving us beauty since it was first named in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus. There are around 160 species of Danaidae, but the Monarch is the most famous. The orange, white, and black beauty is always a welcome sight around the garden. This photo, taken in 2016, shows a Monarch landing delicately on a flower.

Monarch Season @r/photography / Reddit.com
A camera such as the Ricoh GR III, which you can find at Adorama for $896.95, could have captured this shot easily. The Ricoh Imaging product is great at taking close-up photos, and it’s a fan-favorite of nature photographers, particularly those who photograph delicate creatures like insects and birds.
