Sheep may not seem like the most exciting subjects for a photographer, but when Yoel Robert captured a picture of a herd of sheep, these innocuous farm creatures were transformed into something incredibly fascinating and lovely. The image of Yoel was taken in the northern region of Israel.

Robert captured this picture as part of his documentation of a 1,500-sheep herd, for which he was awarded a prize in 2021 after submitting it to the Drone Photography Awards. The herd grew to 1,900 over the summer and winter, and Robert watched these gentle giants as they gave birth, went in search of new forage, and had their wool trimmed.
