The Queen Mother gave Diana a wedding present when she wed Prince Charles. The Prince of Wales’ feathers are inscribed on the Feathers diamond brooch. Diana frequently used the brooch as a component of a diamond tennis necklace that was enhanced with a cabochon emerald drop. The necklace was part of a set of jewelry from Saudi Arabia that she also obtained as a wedding present.

The feathers belonging to the Prince of Wales were originally worn by Edward the Black Prince in the 1330s. The German phrase “Ich dien,” which translates to “I serve,” is engraved on the three white ostrich feathers.
