5. HQ-19: The Chinese Answer to Hypersonic Threats

China’s HQ-19 marks a major progress in low Earth orbit anti-hypersonic weapon and satellite countering capability. The device uses a novel dual-stage interceptor with an innovative cooling mechanism to let its seeker operate efficiently even during fast atmospheric reentry. Its improved computing capacity allows real-time trajectory changes; its advanced tracking radar can keep lock on targets moving at speeds above Mach 5. Fast reloading and maintenance made possible by the modular architecture of the HQ-19 guarantees great operational preparedness.

6. THAAD-ER: The Extended Range Defender

Beyond ballistic missile defence, the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense-Extended Range (THAAD-ER) system pushes limits. It maintains the same exact hit-to– kill capabilities while obtaining twice the range of the original THAAD system using a two-stage rocket motor. The improved radar of the system allows it to track several hazards over a larger region, therefore offering early warning and engagement options. While preserving the nearly perfect intercept record of the system, its updated software algorithms help to better discriminate between threats and decoys.
