These eagles may reach speeds of up to fifty miles per hour during a serious chase. Despite their intimidating appearance, harpy eagles are actually quite amiable and unafraid of people—a fact that regrettably does not work to their advantage.

Michigan’s Higgins Lake has been included on numerous lists of the “Most Beautiful” for over 40 years. The lake is beautiful, but along its twenty-one miles of shoreline is a sheer dropoff that will terrify anyone who suffers from thalassophobia.

From an aerial perspective, the dropoff is a little concerning. The lake’s waters abruptly change from being shallow and turquoise to having deep, dark blue depths, leaving us to wonder what might be hidden there.
