Australia’s Hobart Class destroyers have drawn criticism on their modified design and procurement approach. These boats have been controversial based on the Spanish F100 class because of their great expense and choice to drastically change the original design. Integration of the Aegis fighting system with Australian-specific requirements resulted in delays and financial overruns. Concerns over their capacity to satisfy Australia’s particular military requirements have not gone away.
