3. Mil Mi-26 Halo

Considered as an engineering wonder, the Mil Mi-26 is the biggest and most powerful transport helicopter ever built worldwide. With an amazing maximum takeoff weight of 56 tonnes and an interior payload of up to 20 tonnes or 82 combat-equipped men, this Russian monster is Driven by two Lotarev D-136 turboshaft engines, each producing 11,400 horsepower, the Mi-26 can lift more than any other helicopter now in use. Its load capacity is such that two BTR armoured personnel carriers or a full-sized battle tank can fit within it. In building projects, where the helicopter can precisely install heavy equipment, its superior autopilot system and precision hover capabilities make it quite useful. The Mi-26, for all its bulk, can run at altitudes above 15,000 feet and reach speeds of up to 160 knots.

 4. NH Industries NH90

Combining the knowledge of several countries to produce a very advanced medium-lift transport helicopter, the NH90 marks a victory of European cooperative engineering. With a full composite airframe, this advanced aircraft lowers weight while nevertheless improving durability and corrosion resistance. Among the most technologically advanced transport helicopters in use are those with fly-by- wire control systems and sophisticated avionics. It can carry either 4,000 kg of goods internally or up to 20 fully prepared troops. While its sophisticated navigation systems permit all-weather operations, the NH90’s rear ramp and big cabin doors help to fast load and unload. Specific elements for naval operations, such an automatic folding rotor system and improved corrosion protection, define the helicopter’s marine variant.
