According to a 2012 study, walking between 3,500 and 7,500 steps per day can help manage or prevent type 2 diabetes. The study also suggests that people take short walks or perform a few activities that are appropriate for their bodies in between long periods of sitting. Walking therefore lowers blood sugar levels, which are the root cause of type 2 diabetes.
