This method slows down the oxidation process generating browning by leveraging lemon juice’s inherent acidity.
Start by halfing your avocado and removing the pit to use this trick. If you’re only utilising half, leave the pit in the unused half since it shields the flesh from air contact. Then slosh fresh lemon juice over the avocado’s exposed flesh. The lemon juice’s citrous acid forms a protective layer that greatly slows oxidation.
To get optimal results, cover the avocado flesh’s whole surface with enough lemon juice. Either brush it on with a pastry brush or just sprinkle it over the surface and distribute it with the rear of a spoon. Pay very close attention to any cracks or uneven surfaces where air can become caught.
Apply the lemon juice; next, securely wrap the avocado half in plastic wrap such that the wrap comes into direct contact with the flesh to reduce air contact. Before refrigeration, arrange the wrapped avocado in an airtight container for even better closure.

Although lemon juice is the most often used ingredient in this trick, lime juice or even white vinegar are substitutes. Though they could give the avocado somewhat varied flavours, each will help with preservation.
