2. Seven planets as big as Earth
Year Discovered: 2017
It was found by Michael Gillon.
It is at TRAPPIST-1.
Known as a red dwarf star, TRAPPIST-1 undoubtedly belongs to the most prevalent star class in the Milky Way. Known as the Goldilocks Zone, or the region where liquid water can exist on a planet’s surface, three of the TRAPPIST-1 planets are situated fairly firmly in the star’s habitable zone.

In 2017, a solar system only 39 light-years from Earth, called TRAPPIST-1, was discovered to be orbiting seven planets the size of Earth. Leading the team was Michael Gillon from the University of Liege in Belgium, who conducted the star’s study using the TRAPPIST telescope at the La Silla Observatory in Chile.
