People have mistaken lens clouds for UFOs, and it’s understandable given the way these saucer-shaped clouds are shaped. Lenticular clouds, lens clouds, and somewhat rare cloud forms. When air passes over a mountain that obstructs the airflow, lens clouds are created. These spherical, flat clouds are the result of condensing water vapor in moist, stable air. It is understandable that so many people mistakenly believe they are witnessing a flying saucer when, in reality, it is simply a lens cloud because, let’s face it, they appear other-worldly.
