A hermit crab living within the skull of a human being.

Unlike other marine animals, hermit crabs do not arrive with their own shells. Rather, they settle down in animal shells that they have scavenged or, as this picture illustrates, any other convenient container that comes to hand. In this instance, a hermit crab finds the ideal residence in a human skull. This is most likely a temporary residence. The hermit crab needs to locate larger shells as it gets larger. Before leaving its present shell, it looks for empty ones or other objects to move inside. Hermit crabs will compete with one another for the best empty shells since they can occasionally be scarce. We’re not sure who won or lost with this hermit bullshit.
