In addition, research shows that chronic stress can really be a huge influencer of hair loss by preventing your hair follicles from regenerating. That’s why it’s important to take care of your mind first and foremost, to promote healthy hair growth.

Bright Side put together a list of at-home treatments to help you grow out your hair using things you’ll probably find in your kitchen.

1. Squeeze lemons

Lemons, as you might already know, have plenty of vitamin C — a powerful molecule which can get your collagen production going. They can strengthen your hair, clean your scalp, and get rid of the oils that are undesirable. Lemons can also get rid of dandruff.

What to do:

Squeeze one half of a lemonMix the lemon juice with a bit of water, then place it on your scalpMassage it all together for 5 minutesLet it stay there for 8-10 more minutesWash your hair to rinse it all offRepeat weekly

2. Wash your hair with warm and cold water.

When you rinse your hair with warm water, it actually helps the stimulation of blood flow to your hair follicles, which results in hair growth. It can also help with adding volume to your hair and making it look less straight or flat. Cold water, on the other hand, is also a great solution to regrow your hair, as it is good for blood circulation. In addition, it can prevent it from getting dirty and greasy — especially if you have really oily hair.

Caution:

Try not to use hot water on your hair because this can lead to frizz and dryness. It can even result in hair loss because the heat makes it weak, and it can end up falling out.

3. Use coconut oil.

There are many everyday factors that can promote hair loss, like constant styling, the weather outside, and even pollutants (like dust and toxic gas). All of this together can make it hard for your hair to grow properly. That’s why coconut oil is there to be your hair’s knight in shining armor. There are many ways to apply it to your hair — you can simply use it as a conditioner or rub some of it straight on your hair and leave it on overnight.

4. Flip your head upside down when brushing your hair.

Blood flow, however, is the main ingredient here — it adds oxygen and nutrients to your hair. The best way to get the circulation going is by brushing it with your head flipped upside-down.

5. Use rosemary oil and castor oil.

Rosemary oil has been found to promote hair growth, strengthen your hair, and prevent dandruff. A study conducted found that rosemary oil can even kill off some fungi and bacteria in your hair, and if your scalp is unhealthy, or you have an infection, it’s an even better remedy. You can also use the mixture on your eyebrows to grow them out thicker.

What to do:

Add 2 tablespoons of castor oil and 15 drops of rosemary oil to a small dropper bottle.Wear your hair down and massage the mixture into the temples of your hair.Apply it where you want the most growth.Make sure you don’t wash your hair for the next 3 days, at least.Do this for a full week.
