6. Giethoorn, the Netherlands’ Venice

Giethoorn, also known as “The Dutch Venice,” is one of the most magnificent and vibrant communities in the Netherlands. The community is situated on water canals that span a distance of more than 4.2 miles, thus earning it its second name. The village is nearly a century old. Locals primarily use rowboats and electric-powered boats for transportation on the water, as well as bicycles to cross the wooden bridges that connect the homes strewn across more than 50 little islands.
