2. A Rose by Any Other Name

Although most people call them white strawberries, these unusual fruits go by various other names that fit their look and source. Known as “Hatsukoi no Kaori,” which poetically translates to “Scent of First Love,” they are rather famous in Japan and have a delicate perfume and subdued sweet taste. Because its flavour profile some describe as reminiscent of pineapple, they are termed “Pineberry,” a combination of “pineapple” and “strawberry,” in various areas of Europe. Sometimes referred to as “Fresas Silvestres Blancas,” or “White Wild Strawberries,” in South America, they honour their untamed natural beginnings. These several names not only reflect the worldwide appeal of white strawberries but also emphasise the several cultural interpretations of their special qualities.
