It turns out that a couple empty wine bottles can do the trick. This trick won’t cost you anything if you already have them sitting around the house, but if not, bottles can be purchased for less than $5 at places like Walmart. All you need to do is place it inside the planter after filling it with water. The compost is kept wet by the water that gradually seeps out.
