12. Conservation Challenges

The situation of capybaras’ conservation shows a complicated picture of both possibilities and difficulties. Although they are not yet threatened, habitat degradation, hunting pressure, and human-wildlife conflict all present hazards. Their populations in many places have been maintained by their capacity to fit human-modified environments; nevertheless, occasionally this adaptation results in conflict with agricultural operations. Further difficulties arise from climate change, possibly influencing their habitat and the water supplies they depend on. Through sustainable hunting programs, habitat protection, and conflict avoidance techniques, conservation efforts centre on preserving healthy populations while managing human-wildlife interactions.
