About 60% of an adult human’s body is made up of water. Therefore, the most crucial feature to look for in a world that is appropriate for supporting human existence beyond our own is the presence of drinkable water. There was no evidence of water presence in the area until recently. However, a closer inspection reveals that it has always been nearby.

Hard evidence of lunar water with the well-known H20 composition was found (in the form of ice) near both the moon’s north and south poles using a Boeing 747SP aircraft that NASA had converted into a Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA).
