190. Artwork for Birds

Found In: Paris
Est. Cost: Undisclosed
Murals brighten up any public space by adding a splash of color, and it’s only fair that those flying far above us get to enjoy it as well. This mural by Ella & Pitr is considered to be Europe’s largest and spans almost 2.5 hectares.

It was painted in 2019 on the roof of the exhibition center known as le Parc des Exhibitions. It took the duo eight days and hundreds of liters of paint to complete this stunning masterpiece. It can be viewed from a plane, a drone camera, or the roofs of nearby tall buildings.

191. A Kangaroo’s Jump

Found In: Australia
Est. Cost: N/A
Kangaroos are wondrous creatures, and there’s no doubt about that. But they’re also large and powerful wild animals that won’t think twice before inflicting injury on the person in front of them. Hence, they need to be treated with appropriate caution and respect.

A Kangaroo’s Jump @imgur/Pinterest
In case of an emergency, a red kangaroo may jump twice as tall as the height of a human being and more than three times the distance. We cannot even imagine how creepy that sight would look in real life or what would need to happen to prompt such a reaction.

192. Acacia Erioloba Thorns vs. Human Hand

Found In: Africa
Est. Cost: N/A
This might not be a name you hear daily because you may more commonly know this tree as the camel thorn or the giraffe thorn. Looking at the size of its thorns makes it evident why it would garner such a name.

Acacia Erioloba Thorns vs. Human Hand @onediocom/Pinterest
The tree is native to countries in Southern Africa, such as South Africa, Angola, Botswana, and Namibia. The tree has significant medicinal importance as several parts are used to make medicines for ailments like headaches and ear infections.

193. The Size of a Hailstone

Found In: Unknown
Est. Cost: N/A
Who doesn’t love snow? It’s a beautiful experience to walk out and see the Earth blanketed by a white cloth of magnificence. However, snow has an evil twin known as hail that does not quite elicit the same response from people, and that’s because it’s pretty dangerous.

The Size of a Hailstone @onediocom/Pinterest
Hailstones have been known to damage certain property items, and they can also be quite injurious if they manage to hit you at an angle, especially when they’re this size. They are usually much smaller, but sometimes, nature just needs to give you a miracle.

194. Human Hand vs. Baby Marmoset

Found In: South America
Est. Cost: N/A
While some monkey species can grow to a large size, there are also smaller ones on the spectrum, more commonly known as marmoset monkeys. This picture is enough to grasp how tiny a marmoset is when it’s born.

Human Hand vs. Baby Marmoset @zaineqeqwqw/Pinterest
Marmosets have a physical body that is quite close to that of humans, which unfortunately leads to them often being the subject of medical testing. In addition to that, marmosets can also give birth to non-identical twins, a quality usually unheard of within primates.

195. What Cameras Used to Be

Found In: The 90s
Est. Cost: $900 in the era*
If you ever wonder why your parents don’t have that many digital photographs of you left over, it’s probably because taking even one was a hassle back in the day. It’s only because of their love for us that our parents went to the extent that they did to make home videos.

What Cameras Used To Be @apffilardi/Pinterest
This picture presents an eye-opening comparison because it shows everything that the smartphone has replaced. Back then, you needed a separate device for every digital function. But a smartphone combines it all and puts everything into one pocket.

196. 1995 Data Storage (134 MB) vs. 2019 Data Storage (128 GB)

Found In: The past
Est. Cost: $6 per floppy disk*
One of the biggest things that the advancement of technology has revolutionized is our ability to store digital items. Back in the day when floppy disks were used, each one could only hold up to 2 MB of data on average, which is not even enough to store one picture of today.

1995 Data Storage (134 MB) vs. 2019 Data Storage (128 GB) @onediocom/Pinterest
The problem with this storage inability was that it became costly to store vast amounts of data, as well as inefficient. Why shift to digital storage when it takes up as much space as the physical one? This is why we can genuinely take a moment to appreciate today’s USBs, which can store more than 100 GB in one tiny container.

197. This Giant Moth

Found In: Australia and New Zealand
Est. Cost: N/A
The giant wood moth is found in Australia and New Zealand and can be as big as a human hand. Moths in any shape or form can be pretty creepy, especially when they’re this size. However, it may calm you a little to know that humans rarely spot these moths because they like to stay hidden.

This Giant Moth @imgur/Pinterest
The moth is not found in urban areas where most people live, and the adults also have a very short lifespan, living for only a couple of days. The moths are pretty heavy and have a huge wingspan, but the females don’t fly very well, so you will likely not see them with their wings spread out.

198. This Large Amethyst Geode

Found In: Uruguay
Est. Cost: A couple of hundred dollars*
Crystals are one of nature’s most stunning creations, without a doubt. Coming across these sparkly bits embedded within rocks can stun anyone, which is why they can also be very costly. A geode is basically a cavity within a stone that may be lined with some form of crystal or mineral.

This Large Amethyst Geode @Google/Pinterest
Usually, geodes are much smaller and can be found on the shelves of any crystal shop, but this one from Uruguay beats them all. This large amethyst geode is almost as large as a human when fully opened, making this a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of occurrence. We can only imagine the magnanimous price point for which this must have been sold.

199. A Giant House Plant

Found In: Switzerland
Est. Cost: Various*
Usually, smaller plants get picked as house plants because they’re low maintenance, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find houseplants in every size. Just take this one, for example; it’s much bigger than a human being.

A Giant House Plant @etsy/Pinterest
This comes from SkinkPlants in Switzerland, who specialize in unique plants that you won’t find anywhere else. This one, in particular, is a plant known as Alocasia, which can grow to be massive. Whether you want to put this inside your living room or in your entrance is up to you.

200. Battle of the Phone

Found In: The past
Est. Cost: $52 for the old phone*
While both these phones look almost the same size, the difference is in the display size. One of them will barely display two lines at once, while the other will let you read the entire Declaration of Independence.

Battle of the Phone @onediocom/Pinterest
And that’s the difference between phones from today and those from the 90s; they may look similar in size, but they’re vastly different in terms of their functions. It’s intriguing to think about what changes will occur in phones over the next 40 years.

201. Pygmy Marmoset

Found In: The Amazon Region
Est. Cost: N/A
While primates like humans, apes, and gorillas are pretty magnificent, a much smaller version can also be found in existence. The pygmy marmosets are located in the Amazon region in countries like Brazil, Ecuador, and Peru.

Pygmy Marmoset /Wikipedia.org
On average, these tiny animals can grow up to five inches. For comparison, the average human finger is three inches in size, so you can imagine how miniature these creatures are. While research is still being conducted on their behaviors, pygmy marmosets can generally be quite violent when needed.

202. Miniature Baby Horse

Found In: Everywhere
Est. Cost: $700*
Also known as foals, these baby horses are around 15 to 22 inches tall at birth, making them relatively smaller than the average human. In this picture, a miniature horse is featured next to a dog, and the two don’t possess a significant difference in size.

However, horses grow pretty quickly, and by the time they are a year old, they have reached almost 90% of their adult height. So, if you’re looking to buy miniature baby horses just for their cuteness, this size won’t last a long time.

203. Baby Mice

Found In: Everywhere
Est. Cost: N/A
Because mice aren’t giant creatures themselves, it’s understandable that their offspring will be almost miniature in size. When these babies are born, they are roughly the same size as a quarter, weighing as much as a sheet of paper does.

Baby Mice ©RICHARD-ASQUITH/Shutterstock
Because their newborn bodies are entirely hairless, they’re often referred to as ‘pinkies’ as well. Baby rats are slightly bigger than mice (just an inch), but even then, they’re considered relatively tiny when born. In any case, it’s good that these rodents are small in size because they can be pretty annoying to deal with.

204. Rusty-Spotted Cat

Found In: India and Sri Lanka
Est. Cost: N/A
The rusty-spotted cat is the world’s smallest and rarest cat species and is classified as a ‘vulnerable’ animal due to decreasing populations. Even when fully grown, their bodies can only reach a maximum of 20 inches.

Rusty-Spotted Cat @dailymail.co.uk/Pinterest
They are roughly half the size of the average house cat. While several of their features, such as the spots and the ears, resemble leopards, their size makes them seem much less scary. The species is not particularly dangerous, but it has the aggressiveness one would expect from wild cats.

205. Miniature Orange

Found In: Someone’s Garden
Est. Cost: N/A
While most people become famous for growing fruits and vegetables enormous in size, this man found an orange in his garden that was exceptionally small. We might even consider this to be the world’s tiniest orange ever.

Miniature Orange @Slash428/Reddit.com
Whether this man won an award or not, he must have had quite a happy day after he made this discovery. Perhaps he even immortalized the orange in some way because eating it would have made no difference to anyone’s appetite.

223. Superyachts

Found In: Russia
Est. Cost: $800 million*
Known as the Dilbar, this is one of the biggest and most expensive yachts in the world. The vessel is massive, measuring 512 feet, and it was created for Alisher Usmanov, a Russian billionaire.

Superyachts @ThatsInsane/Reddit.com
The yacht has around 41,000 square feet of space, with two helipads of its own. But its grandeur is really put into perspective when it is compared with other yachts on the harbor, as shown in this picture.

224. Redwood Trees

Found In: California
Est. Cost: N/A
California is home to several massive tree species, and these Redwood trees are one of them. While most people credit mountains for being huge and magnificent, giant tree species also exist, and they make humans look as tiny as ants.

Redwood Trees @dibang/Twitter.com
Currently, Redwood trees can grow up to 300 to 350 feet, but trees as tall as 375 feet have also been reported in the past. The trees live for hundreds and thousands of years, which is the primary factor behind their massive size. The species is exceptionally good at survival, and after a certain height, they also acquire better access to sunlight, further improving their chances of thriving.
