3. Microclimate Ecosystem

Antelope Canyon boasts a special microclimate that supports an unexpectedly varied environment. Different temperature and humidity zones that deviate greatly from the surrounding desert environment have been found by scientists Usually 10–15 degrees colder than the surface, the depth and narrow passages of the canyon generate air circulation patterns that preserve somewhat constant temperatures. Specialized plant and microbial populations that flourish in these settings have resulted from this temperature control. Unique to the canyon’s surroundings, various species of bacteria and fungus have been found by researchers; some of them show amazing adaptations to low-light circumstances and mineral-rich surfaces.
