11. Hyperion with High Electricity
Found Year: 1848
William Cranch Bond, George Phillips Bond, and William Lassel are the ones who found it.
Location: Saturn’s orbit
Hyperion is one of the solar system’s oddest-looking moons. This uneven rock, which has a pumice-stone-like appearance, is covered in countless craters. Additionally, a particle beam made of static electricity charges it. This indicates that Hyperion emits energy into space, as demonstrated by NASA’s Cassini mission, which visited Saturn from 2004 to 2017.

Since Hyperion’s discovery in 1848, the astronomy world has been interested in its electrical output, irregular shape, and sponge-like looks. The moon puzzled the scientists who discovered it in the middle of the nineteenth century, as it was the first non-circular moon ever found.
