8. Adaptive Immune System

Recent immunological research has shown that capybaras have a wonderfully flexible immune system that offers increased resistance to several infections. Their immune system exhibits special traits that enable them to resist many diseases and flourish in different surroundings. Studies of certain antibodies and immune cells shown to be unique to capybaras point to evolutionary adaptations to their semi-aquatic way of life. Important subjects for learning disease resistance in wildlife populations, scientists have also found that their immune system can react quickly to novel infections.
