October is the height of autumn beauty in Huanglong since the whole valley bursts in an amazing show of autumn hues. Stunning reflections in the travertine ponds below result from the forest canopy becoming a tapestry of crimson, orange, and gold. As the contrast between the vivid foliage and the turquoise seas reaches its climax, this time presents some of the most striking photographic possibilities of the year. Excellent view of the surrounding mountain ranges and their snow-capped peaks is given by the lower temperatures and clear heavens.
