10. Early Winter Wonderland (December)
December turns Huanglong into a pure winter paradise as ice starts to build around the pools and snow covers the ground. Fantastic visual effects all throughout the valley are produced by the contrast between the frozen materials and the rushing water. Against the white snow, the travertine ponds that remain liquid take on a deeper turquoise colour that offers amazing photo chances. The low temperatures and snow cover alter the whole nature of the scenic location, so providing guests with a somewhat different viewpoint on its natural beauty. Especially when the sun’s rays interacts with ice crystals in the air and on surfaces, the winter light generates magnificent settings. Concentrated wildlife activity near the surviving unfrozen water sources offers special viewing chances.
