7. Trikonasana, or posture of the extended triangle

 

This is a variation of the triangle pose, suitable for both beginners and advanced practitioners. It helps open the hips and engage the abdominal muscles. Beginners are advised to keep their head in a neutral position if they find it difficult to lift it.

Start by standing on a mat and taking a wide step forward with your right leg. Keep your legs apart and fully extended. Point your right foot outward and your left foot forward. Extend your arms to form a cross, then lower your torso, bringing your right hand toward your right leg while raising your left arm upward, as demonstrated in the pose.
