This Japanese sushi-style “omakase” restaurant, located in the Time Warner Center in Manhattan, New York, has been open since 2004. It is as much an experience as it is a dining destination. Chef Masayoshi Takayama selects the dishes, creating a relaxed atmosphere for up to 26 diners, with reservations required three weeks in advance. Born and raised in Japan, Masa previously owned a high-end restaurant in Los Angeles before opening Masa in New York. His lifelong connection to food began in his youth, delivering fresh sashimi by bicycle and catering events during high school. At his restaurant, guests are served a variety of fresh dishes straight from the kitchen, including truffles, Omi beef, and fish flown in from Japan. Dinner lasts about two hours, with meals starting at $750 per person, excluding tax and tip. The restaurant proudly holds three Michelin stars.
