Unfortunately, a pot that falls in the garden is inevitable, and cleaning up the shattered terracotta is a hassle. If the items aren’t completely destroyed, though, you might be able to save them for a creative art project. The bits of terracotta can be used as labels to distinguish the various plants in your garden.

The terracotta fragments at the bottom of fresh pots can also be used as a drainage system. Although adding rocks to pot bottoms is the standard practice, terra cotta works just as well. Plus, your pots won’t be as heavy and difficult to handle because the material is lighter.
