58. This Girl’s BF’s Carbonara Attempt
Est. Cost: $20*
What Happened: A failed chicken carb attempt
According to the person who posted this, this was her boyfriend’s first-ever attempt at a chicken carbonara dish. He definitely gave it a try, though it looks as though things went awry at some point.

This Girl’s BF’s Carbonara Attempt @EliaStellaria/Twitter.com
Chicken carbonara is a dish that a lot of pasta-lovers like, as it is made from reserved pasta water, parmesan cheese, and eggs, all mixed with warm pasta to create a creamy, delectable meal that is not supposed to look like this.
59. PB&J…Technically
Est. Cost: $5*
What Happened: Raw peanuts instead of peanut butter
This is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, literally. We see a slice of bread with jam or jelly on it, topped with an array of peanuts. Technically, this is a PB&J, but that’s more an issue of function over form.

PB&J…Technically @vinceeatsass/Twitter.com
Would you eat this? The raw peanuts just don’t hit the same as actual peanut butter, but we admire this person’s can-do attitude. They wanted a PB&J, and they weren’t going to let no peanut butter get in their way.
60. Plain But Fun
Est. Cost: $10*
What Happened: This very plain, very odd meal
The caption on this reads, “My child asked for something plain but fun.” Anyone with kids knows how absolutely finicky children can be when it comes to what they eat (unless it comes to sugar, of course).

Plain But Fun @WrecklessEating/Youtube
White rice, crackers, and a pat of butter was what this kid agreed to eat, and we’re shaking our heads. This is about as plain as it can get. Usually, this is the type of meal only someone with a very bad stomach flu would eat. Or a kid, apparently.
61. Almond Milk, Seasoning, and Eggs
Est. Cost: $10*
What Happened: A very unappetizing-looking plate of eggs
This person made very heavily-seasoned eggs and used almond milk, not regular milk, to create the dish. As they put it, they got “carried away,” and we can clearly see that, as this dish looks horrific.

Almond Milk, Seasoning, and Eggs @veggiesfamily9701/Youtube
These eggs look like they came out of the back-end of a horse. A sick horse, at that. While eggs are great for protein and nutrition, there’s no way we could be convinced to eat a plate of these. Not in a million years.
62. What My Younger Sister Eats
Est. Cost: $5*
What Happened: Fruit submerged in a soup of cold water
This girl exposed her younger sister for her “terrible” eats, and we can see why. This is literally just a bowl of cold water with cut-up fruit in it. Bananas, grapes, kiwi, and blueberries make up this “soup.”

What My Younger Sister Eats @Kace-and-Dreab/Facebook
Who is eating this? And why? This is something you’d feed to someone with a gastrointestinal condition. While cold fruit is great, fruit submerged in cold water is a stretch, even for gastro-adventurers.
63. Icing A Cake
Est. Cost: $20-$30*
What Happened: Oat cream frosting fail
Icing a cake is not so simple, according to @gardentoplate_life on Instagram. She posted a picture of her attempt to ice a dairy-free Victoria sponge cake with strawberries and fresh cream. Alas, the attempt was a failure.

Icing A Cake @bonibakes/Facebook
Oat cream just didn’t hold up as planned. Still, the poster took it in stride, writing, “Not everything in life is successful, but that’s good, isn’t it?” The cake is probably still edible, just not picture-perfect.
64. Sourdough Elephantiasis
Est. Cost: $15-$20*
What Happened: Sourdough tried to escape its pan
Elizabeth Walter, a baker on social media, tried out her hand at making sourdough bread, and what occurred was this rather obscene photo. We can show it, considering it is all 100% sourdough bread.

Sourdough Elephantiasis @SocialJunkieFood/Facebook
Walter captioned her photo with, “Just don’t ask…” The home baker tried her best, and the sourdough just did not want to stay in the pan, possibly because of an issue with the starter (but who knows?).
65. Macarons
Est. Cost: $25*
What Happened: Melted, amorphous macarons
On Instagram, the land of failed home baking photos, @bored_in_self_isolation posted a photo of her attempt to make French macarons. Macarons are notoriously hard to make, requiring a lot of tips and tricks to look the way they are supposed to.

Macarons @singinginflandersfields/Facebook
The shape was totally deflated, as this batch melted everywhere. But, the poster said that, despite the rather gruesome look, the macarons were still tasty (which is more than we can say for a lot of posts on this list).
66. A Cake Version of New Zealand’s P.M.
Est. Cost: $30*
What Happened: Jacinda Adern as a terrible cake
Jacinda Adern is a former politician who was the P.M. of New Zealand. A lot of people admired the woman, who wrote the book I Know This To Be True, for her fortitude, views, and strength in running the country.

A Cake Version of New Zealand’s P.M. @LauraDaniel25/Twitter.com
One N.Z. comedian, Laura Daniel, even tried to make a cake tribute of Jacinda. Alas, it didn’t turn out the way it should, with Daniel apologizing for the botched cake representation of the former prime minister.
67. An Easter Bunny, Supposedly
Est. Cost: $20*
What Happened: A cake that looks nothing like it’s supposed to
A woman named Jessie on Instagram posted this cake to her page, saying that this was her first attempt ever at making a bunny-shaped cake. As for the red-and-green sprinkles, Jessie said that those were the only ones on-hand.

An Easter Bunny, Supposedly @cheftimclowers/TikTok
This didn’t look like a bunny, more like some sort of demon. But, Jessie still said the cake tasted delicious, despite its odd form. Bunny cakes are a great part of Easter, but they are so hard to get right, chef or not.
68. Olaf, No
Est. Cost: $10*
What Happened: Olaf looks really rough in this baking experiment
Olaf has been tricking home bakers for a while, as people trying to bake representations of him just seem to have the hardest time. These two Olafs, which appear to be cake pops or something like them, are no exception.

Olaf, No @Can__Can_01/Twitter.com
The sunken-in eyes and pretzel-like appendages make these Olaf characters rather gloomy. Olaf was a fan favorite for those who have seen the Frozen franchise, but, when it comes to baking, he’s hard to emulate.
69. Very Appetizing Rice Brick
Est. Cost: $5-$10*
What Happened: Dried out, crunchy rice
Posted by Life By Kristen, something went quite wrong with this rice, which is a bowl-shaped brick instead of what rice is supposed to look like. Rice tends to end up crunchy and dry if not enough water is added.

Very Appetizing Rice Brick @cozinhadeloko /Facebook
If your heat is too high, that can also cause this, as the rice will evaporate before it has a chance to cook all the way. For dried out rice, add a half-cup of water and simmer for longer; that should save it.
70. Dumplings From Hell
Est. Cost: $15*
What Happened: Severely burnt dumplings
These dumplings look as though they were cooked in a volcano or lower circle of Hell. This photo is mesmerizing, in a way, as we’ve never seen a ruined pan look so mystical and photogenic.

Dumplings From Hell /Youtube
By now, most of us know or should know that eating burnt food, in addition to it not tasting great, is a big no-no. Burnt foods are high in carcinogens, so it’s best to throw them out as a precautionary measure. Plus, who would be able to eat these?
71. Thanks, Kitty
Est. Cost: $15*
What Happened: Cat using a bowl as a litter box
According to the person who posted this, they left out uncooked rice, and their cat took that and ran with it. Uncooked rice does, to a point, look a little bit like the grains or pellets of cat litter. At least, to a cat, it does.

Thanks, Kitty @Kalbus/Youtube
This cat did what it did to this pot of uncooked rice, which was so nasty, rude, and cat-like. That bowl has got to go too, as we can’t imagine eating out of a pot that a cat had gone to the bathroom in. No thanks.
