Anti-tank missiles have transformed the battlefield amid the always changing terrain of modern combat. Ground combat has been transformed by these advanced weapons, which also equip infantrymen with means to successfully offset armoured attacks. From their modest origins to the modern systems, these missiles are the height of military technology. Ten amazing anti-tank missiles that have proved their value in different wars are investigated in this paper, with particular focus on one system that has acquired a terrible reputation among tank crews all around.
1. Javelin: The Fire-and-Forget Marvel

The FGM-148. With its sophisticated fire-and-forget capacity, javelin has transformed anti-tank warfare. Designed by Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, this American-made weapon system lets operators lock on targets and then instantly seek cover since the missile steers itself towards the target. Its top-attack profile, which targets tanks at their most vulnerable point—the thin top armor—has been quite lethal. The thermal vision system of the Javelin allows day and night operating; its tandem warhead may destroy reactive armour. Recent disputes have shown its dependability; success rates surpass 94% and effective ranges span 4,000 meters.
2. Spike: The Multi-Purpose Precision Weapon

The Spike family of missiles developed by Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defence weaponry is now among the most flexible anti-tank weaponry available worldwide. The special fiber-optic data link of the Spike enables operators to modify target information mid-flight or even abandon missions if needed. The Spike series fills several purposes from short-range infantry operations to long-range precision strikes; their range is 2,500 to 25,000 meters. Combining the system’s powerful electro-optical seeker with its “fire, observe and update” feature, it is especially useful in urban settings where targets might migrate behind cover.
